Maintaining the State of Our Mind

As human, there is no doubt that we are all created to be good, however, the priviledge given to human over all creatures is so much that each of us must understand that it needs to be bagged with test that we all have to fulfil - I mean, we will come across obstacle that tend to alter the state of our mind , part of this test is the requirement and reponsibility to maintain the GOOD state of our mind and heart at all time - By maintaning it, we keep things that dinstinctly make us human and diferentiate us from other creatures or living things- Such maintainance is about paying attention to some little things that can allow us to remain productiv member of the earth comunity and and be in accord with everything on this planet( human environemt and technology ) . Lets take a look:





Power of People


Generally good people are the best resources you can have in this world- however , in any organization the KEY people are not necessarily the one who sit at the to of hierarchy. Below is example of 3 key people you can think about:

1-Gate keepers- these are people who have access to flow of information and control over access to other. Examples are secretaries; receptionist- getting to know them can assist you in gaining the ear of other key individual.

2-Movers- these are people who have high degree of influence that outstrips their position. They are people who tend to make useful allies-therefore see if you have common ground that will help you work with them

3-Gurus- these are mostly wise elders of the organization who have mass of acquired experience and acknowledge- they can be valuable sources of information , advice and feedbacks.



Handling criticism


Criticism do hurts, no matter how positive human can be. Remembering the following could take some sting out of criticism you receive:


1-If you have the same criticism more than once, pay special attention- there is probably a valid problem.

2-Avoid being defensive- this end pointing out your own insecurity

3-Consider the source of criticism

4-Separate yourself from your behavior, even good people choose wrong action – a mistake does not make you a bad person

5-Try to learn something – there may be a valuable lesson for you in criticism

Stay focus


Here some practical ideas on how to stay focus in the mids of daily trivial that will always remain part of our life:


1-Read your long range goal everyday – the more you read , the more you maintain your focus.

2- Write out you long range goals- write it clearly, specific statements about what you want to achieve.

3- Discuss priorities with other people – do this regularly at least once a week

4- Eliminate activities that don’t help

Communication tips


v Listening to customer complains- The saying “listen to the whispers and you won’t have to hear the scream” could hell help guide you in dealing with this.

v Presentation – make sure you main eye contacts with everyone in your audience-putting arrow either left or right through your notes to cue you to turn in that direction can help.

v Avoid judgmental feedback- for example comments like” “ if you don’t do this , you’ll never get done on time” Better “ Here are some suggestions, please use the ones you think will keep you most to complete the task on time”


Make what you say appealing to others by saying what you want in terms of what they want -For example-“when you take the marketing course I’ve recommended, I can upgrade your job description and you’ll get the raise you’ve been after”



Listening skill


The secrete here is learning this four A``S


Acknowledgement that you’ve heard the speaker with a comment or a least a nod

Ask for more information

Align yourself either with all that he/she said or with the part you can agee with

Ad you own views on the topics

Bite your tongue


A learning – rarely instinctive- biting your tongue has two importances prone to oblivion:

1- It allows you to collect your thoughts, therefore be cautious or more circumspect in what you say.
